New York’s most famous salon is opening up a new salon and has partnered with an online retailer to make the experience even easier for salon-goers.
The Shoppes of New York will open in a shopping center on East 71st Street in mid-October, and customers will have the option to pick a hair color from a selection of more than 40,000 options.
There will be a $3,000 salon fee, which is split between the salon and the online retailer.
The shop is a partnership between the two retailers, which has been in the works for months.
“I think this is going to be the biggest shift in the marketplace, but I’m very excited about it,” says Shoppe of New Yorkers.
“It’s not only going to allow us to have an amazing service but also a great retail experience.”
The salon, which will have a two-story building on the East 71 Street side of the mall, will open with a pop-up market of hair care products, hair styling products and accessories.
The salon is a joint venture between the retail giant Walgreens and the company that owns the Shopps.
Walgens says it plans to invest in the space and provide a “full range of services.”
The company said it plans a variety of services for the salon, including: “a full line of hair products” to complement the salon’s extensive line of products; a full line and curated collection of makeup products; and “a unique hair and beauty boutique, featuring a full selection of custom-made hair and makeup accessories, plus a selection from a full assortment of hair-care brands.”
The Shops of New Orleans, a brand of Shoppys products, will also be part of the store.
Shoppies was founded in the early 1990s by the late Richard Seabrook, who passed away in 2018.
Seabros son, Richard Jr., has since founded a number of companies, including the Seabrocade Hair Salon in New Orleans and a salon that specializes in “premium products.”
The Seabrons son has also made an effort to make sure that his son-in-law and other people with connections to the business have a say in the future of the company.
The brand’s new president is Rob Seabrot, a former executive with Walmart who currently serves as vice president of global merchandising.
The store is being run by the Seabee Group, a joint-venture between the Shops and the Shabroons, a family business founded in 1946.
It’s expected to open by the end of 2019.
